
The Memorandum of Understanding entered into on the Thursday of 13.02.2025 at Potheri, Katankulathur, Chengalpattu District between SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) formerly called as SRM University hereinafter referred to as SRMIST represented by the Registrar of the University Dr.S.PONNUSAMY which expression shall unless repugnant to the context means and include its successors and assigns of the one part. Wherever the word university comes in this MoU it implies SRMIST.
The World Community Service Centre – Vethathiri Maharishi College of Yoga (WCSC-VMCY), having its registered office at No.26, 2nd Seaward Road, Valmiki Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai – 600041, hereinafter referred to as “The World Community Service Centre,” is represented by its President, Padma Shri awardee SKM Maeilanandhan. The Centre authorizes its Vice President, Dr. N.A. Perumal (hereinafter referred to as WCSC-VMCY), to act on its behalf.
Vethathiri Maharishi College of Yoga (ISO 9001:2015), a unit of The World Community Service Centre, is affiliated with Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University and recognized under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. It is the first standalone yoga college in Tamil Nadu, offering Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs in Yoga for Human Excellence(YHE).
SRMIST is a leading higher educational & research institution having gained international reputation in various fields of teaching and training of the students. It is the view of both Parties that the courses on Yoga for Youth Empowerment will have a significant contribution to the holistic development of individuals. In particular, knowledge and practice of yoga will facilitate to improve the physical and mental health of the students and improve institutional climate, thereby, bring about overall harmony in the campus, while the students are in educational institutions.
The Parties have had preliminary discussion in this matter and have ascertained areas of broad consensus. The parties now, have therefore, agreed to enter in writing these areas of consensus, under a Memorandum of Understanding.
